Food Literacy Center Awarded Grants from Dignity Health, Raley’s, The Rite Aid Foundation and UC Davis Health
Continuing to Educate Underserved Youth in Sacramento Region

Food Literacy Center is honored to be chosen as the recipient of grant funding from Dignity Health, Raley’s Extra Credit, The Rite Aid Foundation KidsCents program and UC Davis Health. Since 2011, Food Literacy Center has committed to making a difference in the Sacramento community through food literacy education.
The Food Literacy Center mission is simple: inspire kids to eat their vegetables. Founder Amber Stott knows that food literacy is vital to building and maintaining healthy kids in underserved elementary schools. “We’re so excited to receive these grants and cannot wait to put the funding into action in our programs,” says Stott. “Organizations like Dignity Health, Raley’s, The Rite Aid Foundation and UC Davis Health are vital to Food Literacy Center’s mission and essential to the betterment of our Sacramento community.” By teaching low-income elementary students about cooking and nutrition, Food Literacy Center paves the way to improved health, environment and economy.
Dignity Health, Raley’s, The Rite Aid Foundation and UC Davis Health are all organizations dedicated to improving kids’ wellness education, health, food literacy and overall well-being, and Food Literacy Center looks forward to improving the health of local children with their support.
With 40% of Sacramento kids struggling with obesity and 58% using free and reduced lunch programs, Food Literacy Center’s continued work is essential to the Sacramento community. Food Literacy Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) established in 2011 in Sacramento, California, with the mission of inspiring kids to eat their vegetables.
