Start the Day Right with Müesli

This only takes about 3 minutes to put together. Obviously, feel free to use any fruit you have on hand (preferably in season, of course).  Chopped nuts also make a nice addition.

Yield: makes 1 serving

Muesli

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup dry müesli
  • 3/4 cup low-fat kefir
  • 1/2 white peach, sliced
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1 strawberry, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Combine everything in a bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soften before eating.
  2. If you don’t know much about müesli, check out the Wikipedia page.
  3. If you don’t know much about kefir, here’s the quick description:  It’s like drinkable yogurt.  It’s perfect to add to the müesli since the oats are uncooked and tend to absorb a lot of moisture.  If you use regular yogurt, simply thin it with milk until you reach the desired consistency.
